The long-awaited opening of the $1.3 billion Reem Mall, which includes Abu Dhabi’s first indoor snow park, took place on Wednesday, and the latest shopping destination is set to provide community members with several unique and innovative services. Reem Mall is set to become a popular destination for locals and visitors. Situated on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, it spans 186,000 square meters of gross leasable area and has over 400 retail stores and 80 food and beverage outlets. Reem Mall provides the most significant snow park in the area, exclusive attractions, and a distinctive retail mix featuring the newest design concepts. With digital, e-commerce, and logistics capabilities, it is home to one of the region’s fully integrated omnichannel retail ecosystems.
According to mall director Bruce von Kaufmann, the journey from the groundbreaking to the soft opening more than a year ago was nearly ten years, culminating in a grand inauguration by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.
COVID contributed to the long delay. But businesses were eager to get things going. Carrefour will open in February 2022, and we opened the entire precinct last year,” von Kaufmann told Khaleej Times.
The mall was built by Al Farwaniya Property Developments, a joint venture of Agility Global, United Projects for Aviation Services Company (UPAC), and the National Real Estate Company (NREC).
According to von Kaufmann, the mall’s unique selling point is the sub-zero Snow Park Abu Dhabi, which stands out among more than 400 retail units, including approximately 80 F&B options.
