Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ‘extremely distressed’ by the tragic incident. “I am extremely disturbed by the fire incident in Rajkot. My thoughts are with everyone who has lost a loved one. We pray for the injured. “The local administration is working hard to help those affected,” Modi wrote on X.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed officials to prioritise the rescue operation and provide immediate treatment to the injured.
“The municipal corporation and administration have been given instructions for immediate rescue and relief operations following the fire incident in Rajkot’s game zone. The Gujarat Chief Minister also stated that instructions have been issued to prioritise arrangements for the injured’s immediate treatment.
The shopping mall was packed with people due to the weekend. The fire was so intense that smoke could be seen billowing from the shopping mall for a long distance.
