UAE Announces $50 Million Commitment to Large-scale Project that Might Help Millions of People Escape Poverty

The UAE has committed $50 million to a significant multi-donor effort to rescue millions of people from poverty.

This is the second stage of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund 2.0 (LLF 2.0), an initiative to support the development of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) member nations.

In low- and lower-middle-income IsDB member nations, LLF 2.0 will use the funds to support vital projects in the fields of health and infectious diseases, agriculture, and social infrastructure. The investments aim to support 32 member countries in reaching 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in addition to addressing the underlying causes of poverty, food insecurity, and poor health outcomes.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at the AVPN Global Conference 2024 in Abu Dhabi. According to Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, head of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, the financing highlighted the UAE’s dedication to collaborating with partners to improve nations and communities worldwide.

We are dedicated to promoting sustainable development solutions that promote fair economic growth, preserve and enhance lives, and allow nations to prosper, led by President Sheikh Mohamed. The UAE advances its initiatives to combat poverty and assist nations in creating resilient futures through this collaboration.” remarked Sheikh Theyab.
