Watch: As the Long Weekend Draws to a Close, Heavy Rain Falls in Dubai

After a stretch of warmer days, rains finally arrived in various parts of Dubai, much to the surprise of the locals. After a month of fasting, for many, it is the ideal way to cap off a nine-day weekend celebrating the Eid festival.

A magnificent scene was formed beneath Dubai’s famous Burj Khalifa, with medium-sized raindrops falling over the Downtown region and dancing fountains moving in time with the music. On social media, Storm Center posted a video of the fantastic event.

On weekends, drivers returning from daytime commitments were taken aback by the downpour. Rainfall is visible above Dubai’s Mirdif neighborhood in a video that a KT reader submitted.

In another video from Storm Centre, drivers in Dubai are shown navigating through torrential downpours.

The country’s Met department reports that other emirates, including Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain, and Umm Al Quwain, have been under a wet spell since the morning.

It was a serene evening at the Sharjah Mosque, reflecting the splendor of the house of worship onto the rainfall accumulated outside the building.

In some areas of the nation, the NCM has issued yellow alerts, alerting locals to the possibility of convective cloud development linked to rainfall in specific interior and coastal locations. Cloud cover will be present from Saturday night until Sunday at 10 a.m., accompanied by new winds that could reach 40 km/h. The authority indicated the areas most likely to see these shifting conditions.
