UAE: Here's how Customers can now Seek a Recall of Products from the Market

Did you know that products that are unsafe, harmful, or faulty can now be recalled? The Ministry of Economy (MoE) has allowed consumers to recall products for the first time. Previously, the service was restricted to the appropriate party in the UAE, the place of origin, or any other country, as well as the commodity provider.

The Ministry of Economy states that customers can request a product recall in three easy steps:

Use the ministry’s app or website to log in.
To seek a recall of a specific commodity, fill out the form.

Waiting for the recall request to be accepted so that, if allowed, notice of the recall of defective items can be publicized in newspapers.
The service is offered without charge and is available 24/7.

The service is provided under the direction of the Ministry of Economy’s Competition and Consumer Protection Department and in collaboration with the nation’s commodities manufacturers and agents.

The Ministry noted that its website allows users to browse recalled products and find products that don’t meet requirements.

The Ministry emphasized that there are three basic steps involved in pulling defective consumer goods and services from the market: identifying a product that does not meet specifications, confirming that it is in the nation to conduct the recall, and, if the paperwork is available, the administration reviewing it and taking the appropriate action.
