UAE: Sheikha Al Mehairi, the Emirati Director of Libraries, Passes away

Sheikha Mohamed Al Mehairi, a well-known personality in the city’s cultural scene, died away on Wednesday night, and the Abu Dhabi cultural community is in mourning. Following the Dhuhr prayer on Thursday, she was laid to rest.

For several years, Al Mehairi was the Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism—Abu Dhabi’s Library Management Department. DCT observed that during her term, she committed significantly to encouraging literacy and a love of reading in the community.

Al Mehairi was the library manager, ambassador, and first member of the Emirati Board on Young Readers’ Books. Her commitment was crucial to accomplishing several programs designed to develop young brains and ignite a love of reading.

Al Mehairi was characterized as “a generous soul, known for her unwavering dedication and positive influence within the library and the broader community” by the Library Management Department in reflection on her legacy.
