Abu Dhabi Court Stops Case of Terrorist Organization Until April 18

The hearing in Case No. 87 of 2023- State Security Offences, concerning the terrorist ‘Justice and Dignity Committee’ Organization, has been extended to April 18, 2024, by the Abu Dhabi Federal Appeals Court’s State Security Chamber to allow for the completion of defense pleadings.

In this case, eighty-four defendants are accused of founding and operating the ‘Justice and Dignity Committee’, a clandestine terrorist organization in the UAE. They face charges of preparing terrorist activities, fundraising for the Organisation, and hiding the source and destination of those funds.

The court heard nearly three and a half hours of defense arguments yesterday, with the defendants’ relatives and media representatives in attendance. The accused’s lawyers opposed the legality of the Prosecution’s charges and the evidence provided, including investigations and technical and financial reports. They contended that these findings were heavily based on analysis, allowing opportunity for doubt and confusion. They urged their clients’ acquittal and release, pointing out that there was no criminal intent because their clients were unaware of the organization’s genuine aims.
