55 attacks against US forces in Syria and Iraq over past month

The Pentagon announced on Tuesday that throughout the previous month, there have been 55 attacks against US forces stationed in Syria and Iraq, resulting in minor injuries to dozens of US soldiers.

Washington has launched three different strikes on locations in Syria it claimed were connected to Iran and has attributed the increase in violence on forces backed by Tehran; nonetheless, the drone and missile attacks have persisted.

We are tracking that there have been 55 strikes on US forces between October 17 and today. Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters, “There have been 27 assaults against US soldiers in Iraq and 28 incidents in Syria. This brings the total number of injured American personnel to 59.

The war between Israel and Hamas, which started on October 7 when the Palestinian militant group launched a surprise cross-border incursion from Gaza that, according to Israeli officials, killed around 1,200 people, is linked to the spike in attacks against US forces.

After the attack, the US sent Israel an immediate military aid package. Israel then launched an unrelenting air, land, and naval assault on Hamas-controlled Gaza, which according to the territory’s health ministry has resulted in the deaths of over 11,300 Palestinians.
