“You Can Smell the Holy Kaaba”: Hajj Travelers from Dubai get to Experience the Hajj Before they Depart

Dubai pilgrims experience Haj even before flying out

On May 30, the faithful were given access to a virtual “Haj experience” by the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Islamic Culture in Dubai. The purpose of this session was to get 80 first-time pilgrims from the United Arab Emirates ready for their June 11 Haj.

Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, the head of the official Haj delegation of the Dubai government, explained, “The interactive room will guide people on where to start (the Haj journey), how to perform the rituals, and importantly, it will simulate the crowdedness of the Haj and teach pilgrims how to navigate through it.” The room’s design enhances the immersive experience and gets pilgrims ready for the actual journey by giving off the distinct scent of the Kaaba, giving participants the impression that they are in the actual Kaaba.

The pilgrims will learn everything there is to know about the Haj and can access additional information by simply touching the large screens in the room, according to Al Falasi.

The eighty pilgrims were chosen with great care from various government agencies and social circles in Dubai. Haj is one of the five pillars of Islam and has been performed annually since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). If Muslims are in good physical and financial health, they should do it at least once in their lives.
