At the time of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, a book was released by the government official explaining the timely strategies and intelligent tactics that were positioned by the local authorities to combat the spread of Covid- 19.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, head of the cybersecurity of the UAE Government, authored the book, ‘ AI and Big Data in the Battle Against Covid-19’, which provides fascinating insights into how the authorities used the advanced technologies.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti, who is currently managing director of the National Data Centre under the Supreme Council for National Security, stated, ” The book explores the important role of technology in the vaccination campaign of the UAE and helps in promising the distribution of vaccines, guaranteeing on-time delivery to its citizens.”

Besides, the book also describes effective and efficient initiatives like National Disinfection Programme, drive-through Covid -19 testing centers, field hospitals, economic stimulus packages, remote learning, strategy for food security, humanitarian initiatives, and measures on data privacy and confidentiality.

He added that this book sheds light on the  “instrumental role” played by artificial intelligence and big data in tracking and predicting the spread of coronavirus, identifying vulnerable populations, and pinpointing high-risk areas for efficient containment and reducing measures.

By adopting these new technologies, the UAE government indicated an ” unwavering commitment” to safeguard everyone’s health and well-being.

Abu Dhabi’s Presight, a leading provider of AI and big data analytics solutions, played an essential role in enabling the dynamic response to the pandemic. Besides, its solutions empowered the government to make rapid, data-driven decisions, ensuring effective implementation of decisive measures and rapidly evolving circumstances.

The book has five chapters

  • Big data analytics, forecasting and simulation enable smart decision-making
  • The magic number: R , protecting the vulnerable
  • Deep learning for Covid -19 infection, risk modelling and vaccine prioritisation
  • Knowledge graph and sentiment analysis for Covid-19 and spatiotemporal data mining
  • Contact tracing, quarantine enforcement, and location risk modeling.

Trends Research And Advisory hosted the book signing ceremony at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
