3 months to Ramadan in UAE: Dates of holy month, 6-day Eid Al Fitr break revealed

KhaleejTimes

The UAE is only ninety days away from the Islamic month of Ramadan. Muslims fast throughout Ramadan, which is regarded as the holiest month in Islam, from sunrise to sunset. Across the nation, life generally slows down, with fewer office hours and a generally spiritual vibe in the air.

The Islamic calendar’s ninth month is called Ramadan. The beginning of this month, like all others in the Hijri calendar, is established by the sighting of the crescent moon. The exact dates will depend on moon sightings and be declared by the authorities, although astronomical calculations may reasonably correctly estimate the most likely dates.

The 2024 fasting window will be shorter than the 2023 one.
Muslims fast for thirteen hours and sixteen minutes on the first day of the holy month. The amount of time spent fasting will have approached 14 hours by the end of the month. The duration of the fast in 2023 varied from 13 hours and 33 minutes to 14 hours and 16 minutes.

The Islamic holiday of Eid Al Fitr is observed following the month-long fast. The festival is set to provide the longest official break for locals in 2024. The Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 period has been designated as a public holiday by the government. The calendar indicates that the equivalent dates in the Gregorian calendar are Tuesday, April 9, through Friday, April 12. This is a six-day hiatus when the Saturday-Sunday weekend is taken into account.
