According to industry analysts, flying taxis would reduce the trip time between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to just thirty minutes, emphasizing that the UAE is leading the way in the revolution of urban mobility.
US-based Joby Aviation is creating electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for use in commercial passenger transport.
During a panel discussion, Joe Ben Bevirt, CEO of Joby Aviation, said that the UAE has outstanding momentum when it comes to building infrastructure and certifying autonomous aircraft.
Bevirt stated, “The UAE has been able to expedite moves on building critical infrastructure,” stressing that Joby Aviation has given careful thought to both noise control and safety.
In order to begin offering air taxi services in the Emirate by the beginning of 2026, Joby Aviation and the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai announced a signing agreement in February.
Other businesses have previously revealed intentions to build vertiport infrastructure for crucial areas in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, including eVTOL developer Archer Aviation and UAE’s aviation services provider Falcon Aviation. Additionally, Joby and Archer have registered for the Abu Dhabi Investment Office’s Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industry (SAVI) cluster.
