UAE: AGWA and Believer Meats will Work Together to Investigate the Potential of Lab-Grown Meat

AGWA (AgriFood Growth & Water Abundance), Abu Dhabi’s new food and water cluster, and Believer Meats, a world leader in the cultivated meat industry, will work together to develop the UAE’s capabilities for producing cultivated meat.

Meat that has been grown is made in a laboratory using animal cells. Raising live animals for food is no longer necessary as a result.

Growing environmental awareness and shifting dietary preferences will make it easier for lab-grown meat to enter and grow in the area and other markets thanks to the collaboration. In order to create a legal framework and halal certification requirements for raised meat products in Abu Dhabi, AGWA will collaborate with Believer Meats.

While improving conventional food and water production and supply, AGWA aims to be a leader in fields like functional ingredients, reverse osmosis membranes, algae farming, and alternative proteins.

In order to produce cultivated meat products that are tasty, safe, and healthful, Believer Meats is committed to creating the most advanced and scalable cell-cultivation production technology available.

In North Carolina, USA, the company is currently building the world’s largest facility for producing cultivated meat following its series B fundraise in 2021, which was backed by ADM, S2G Ventures, and other investors. By the end of 2024, the factory is expected to be operational, complete with a tasting kitchen and cutting-edge innovation center.
