UAE: First infant on National Day is Emarat, a Palestinian baby

KhaleejTimes

A happy development occurred here in Abu Dhabi at midnight on UAE Union Day: a Palestinian couple became parents to a baby girl. The UAE is still providing humanitarian aid to the war-torn Gaza.

Ashraf Khedr and Lmais Mohammed, a Palestinian expat couple, celebrated the birth of their fourth child at Burjeel Royal Hospital in Al Ain at precisely 12:01 in the morning. In a heartfelt homage, the delighted parents gave their infant the name Emarat.

“I give thanks to God that my wife and my daughter Emarat are safe. On the occasion of UAE National Day, we are overjoyed to welcome our fourth child, whom we have called Emrat. In honor of Sheikh Zayed, may God have pity on him, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, we called our second son Zayed. The joyful Palestinians exclaimed, “These names are our way of paying tribute to this wonderful country.”

The 2.900kg baby girl was born by obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Mohammad Subhi Al Saad.

Another tribute to the UAE was given on Union Day when baby Zayed, weighing 3.810 kg, was born to Egyptian couple Manal Mohamed and Mahmoud Muhareb at precisely 12 am. Zayed is the family’s fifth child, following two boys and two girls.
