UAE: A security guard recycles 1,600 plastic bottles in a week to win an iPhone 15.

A brand-new iPhone 15 was given to a security guard in the UAE as a thank you for living more sustainably. To win the reward, the Nepalese expat recycled around 1,600 throwaway bottles in a single week.

When the technology company Renie installed a smart bin at his place of employment, Dipesh Chamlagain became involved.

The foreigner told Khaleej Times, “I have never liked how people just throw plastic away without considering how it harms the environment.” “I began gathering and recycling the bottles, and the housekeeping staff assisted me.”

Chamlagain was looking to upgrade his iPhone 8, but never got around to it. “Now I have the newest model.”

The guard promised to recycle bottles going forward, but this time on his coworkers’ behalf. He went on, “They should have an opportunity to win too.”

In the UAE, Renie has placed more than 1,000 smart dumpsters. “We placed them in malls, workplaces, and residential towers. For instance, our bins are available in the Digital Government of Ajman office, Wafi Mall, and the Burj Khalifa.

A user’s account is recorded when they recycle a bottle. We are proponents of recycling with incentives. Users of the Renie app will thus receive a lottery ticket each time they recycle a bottle. One bottle is equal to one ticket, according to the company’s founder, Sander Van Waes.
