The ambassador of Indonesia to Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, claims the people of Palestine are important and that the emphasis should be on civilians who the situation in Gaza are dying as a result of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
“Although we are celebrating the progress and advancement of our nations’ bilateral relations, we could not turn a blind eye to what happens to our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Palestine,” he remarked during a luncheon held at the Indonesian Embassy to mark the nation’s 78th Independence Day.
In order to allow safe and unobstructed humanitarian entry into Gaza for outside aid, Indonesia has called for an end to the hostilities.
“I want to announce that, by the time this message is delivered, Indonesia has organized a humanitarian aid mission to bring medicine and basic supplies to Gaza’s needy civilian population.”
According to the ambassador, “Indonesia also remains vigilant to support the two-state solution based on the relevant United Nations resolution for everlasting peace in Palestine and the principle of international law.”
Ahmad said that the recent summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) was a historic occasion.
“On behalf of the Indonesian government, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s government and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the prime minister, for the successful organization of the ASEAN-GCC Summit on October 20.
