JERUSALEM: The Israeli military revealed a comprehensive three-dimensional model of the promised Al-Shifa Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital three weeks ago. The model revealed a number of subterranean facilities that the military claimed were a part of a sophisticated Hamas command and control center located beneath the main hospital in the area.
Even now, days after seizing the hospital, the military has not yet revealed this alleged facility. However, it has made public recordings of weaponry purportedly found within the hospital, a tunnel that runs through the building, and footage purportedly depicting Hamas militants hauling hostages through the hospital’s corridors. There will be a lot more, according to Israel.
The hospitals in Gaza have been crucial to the conflicting stories that have been told about the conflict.
Under the international laws of war, hospitals are granted special protection. However, if they are employed in combat, they may no longer have that status.
Leading Hamas figure Osama Hamdan, who is situated in Beirut, admitted that Israel might locate a tunnel “here or there.”
He said at a press conference, “We don’t deny there are hundreds of kilometers of tunnels in and around Gaza.” Yet he asserted that Hamas did not carry out militant operations in hospitals.
