The presidents of Egypt and Iran spoke about Gaza developments and mending relations

CAIRO: According to Iranian state media, the presidents of Iran and Egypt spoke over the phone for the first time on Saturday, discussing the latest events in Gaza and the possibility of reestablishing diplomatic relations between their two nations.

According to the television, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi spoke with Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, his Egyptian counterpart. The first encounter between the two men took place in November in Riyadh for the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit.

It was the first time the two presidents had spoken over the phone, according to Iranian state TV. Raisi stated that Iran was prepared to use all of its resources to halt the Zionist regime’s genocide and provide relief to the Palestinian people.

Despite limited diplomatic exchanges, Egypt and Iran’s relations have remained tense for the most part of the past few decades. Their request comes in the wake of other recent actions taken by regional nations to reduce tension.
