The Itchyworms Cancel UAE Concerts, Disappointing Fans

Filipino pop-rock band The Itchyworms has disappointed fans in the United Arab Emirates by canceling their highly anticipated Dubai and Abu Dhabi concerts scheduled for January 2026. The band cited “unforeseen circumstances beyond our control” as the reason for canceling the Middle East leg of their “Akin Ka Na Lang” tour.

Concert Details and Cancellation

The shows were set for:

  • January 17, 2026: Dubai at Pakistan Auditorium, Oud Metha

  • January 18, 2026: Abu Dhabi at New Bar, Arkadia

These would have been the band’s first performances in the region in over a decade, generating significant excitement, especially within the Filipino community. Tickets had already been sold, and promotions were active on social media.

Band Statement and Refunds

In a social media announcement, The Itchyworms expressed regret and apologized to fans. They confirmed that refunds will be issued and that organizers will contact ticket holders directly to begin the process. The band thanked supporters for their understanding.

Fan Reaction

The cancellation came as a surprise to many, as the band had been actively promoting the tour. Fans took to social media to express disappointment and hope for rescheduled dates. For many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), concerts by Filipino artists are cherished cultural events that foster community connection.

Reasons for Cancellation

While the band did not specify the exact reasons, industry insiders note that international tours can face logistical challenges, including scheduling conflicts, travel issues, or production hurdles. The cancellation adds to a list of recent high-profile performance disruptions in the UAE’s dynamic live music scene.

Looking Ahead

Fans remain hopeful that The Itchyworms will reschedule their UAE appearances in the future. The band’s loyal international following and history of engaging performances suggest that a return to the Middle East stage could still happen once the underlying issues are resolved.

For now, the focus is on processing refunds and managing fan expectations. The cancellation underscores the unpredictable nature of live event planning, even in a region known as a key destination for global artists.
