A vertiport is a specially designed space that enables airplanes to take off and land vertically without a runway. The takeoff and landing of flying taxis at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi were accomplished with success because to a temporary vertiport infrastructure that was introduced during the DRIFTx mobility event.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in association with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the UAE and Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility), a branch of the Department of Municipalities and Transport—Abu Dhabi (DMT), unveiled the UAE’s first operational vertiport at the event.
This followed the GCAA’s announcement on Thursday morning that the UAE’s first vertiport had received operational permission. Later, a senior GCAA official said that Yas Island will get the nation’s first vertiport during a panel discussion at DRIFTx.
