On Tuesday, Marcus Stoinis stated that he was aware of his exclusion from the Cricket Australia contract list beforehand, but he is still eager to compete in the T20 World Cup in June.
The country’s cricket board gave deals to 23 players last month; the all-rounder and Ashton Agar were not included in the revised list of contracts for 2024–25.
After hitting an innings-winning, unbeaten 124 for the Lucknow Super Giants against the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, Stoinis commented, “I’ve got a great relationship with the coach; me not getting a contract, I knew that long ago.”
After appearing in just one T20 international and two ODI matches for Australia in February, young fast bowler Xavier Bartlett was rewarded with his maiden contract.
But Stoinis still hopes to travel to the United States and the West Indies for the T20 championship, which kicks off on June 1. After his team defeated Chennai by six wickets, Stoinis was named man of the match. “But on the playing front, I’d like to play and contribute,” he stated.
