The Honorable The new Al Layyah station extension was officially opened on Tuesday by Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council. The project has a Dhs 2.1 billion total cost and a 1,026 megawatt total capacity.
The project, which is SEWGA’s largest energy-related investment in the emirate and falls under the purview of building the electricity production sector system, was presented to the Ruler of Sharjah.
The project’s objectives are to lower carbon emissions while also boosting the station’s production capacity and operational efficiency.

Sheikh Sultan was given an overview of the Al Layyah station project model, which consists of two 345 megawatt gas turbines, two boilers for waste heat recovery, and a 336 megawatt steam turbine. The new expansion will have a total installed capacity of 1,026 megawatts, an operational efficiency of 58%, and a 2.2-ton annual reduction in carbon emissions.
