Sheikh Mohammed Issues an Order Establishing the "Dubai Council"

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, issued Decree No. (35) of 2024 establishing the Dubai Council,” which he will preside over, as the ruler of Dubai.

The Decree designates Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the Council’s First Vice Chairman and Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the Council’s Second Vice Chairman.

Sheikhs Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum are among the council’s members.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, who will also function as the Council’s secretary general, Talal Humaid Belhoul, Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, and Helal Saeed Al Marri are among the other members of the Council.

The Decree will be published in the Official Gazette and will take effect on the date of issuance.

By Law No. (21) of 2021, the “Dubai Council” was established to create and develop the emirate’s future development agenda by introducing significant qualitative projects and transformative initiatives. This will support the emirate’s global competitiveness and improve its leadership and attractiveness. Using these

initiatives, the Council aims to give citizens, residents, and guests the best possible quality of life.
