The approval of the Blue Line extension of Dubai Metro was declared on Friday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

The Metro extension will service a number of localities, including Mirdif, International City, Dubai Creek, Al Warqa, and Silicon Oasis. Half of the expansion will be subterranean.

Sheikh Mohammed announced on X, the former Twitter, that the 30-kilometer track will be constructed for Dh18 billion. It will cover a region with a population of up to one million people and have a total length of thirty kilometers, of which fifteen kilometers will be above ground and fifteen kilometers below ground.

There will be 14 stations on the Blue Line: two elevated transfer stations connected to the current Centrepoint station, the eastern terminus of the Red Line in Rashidiya, and Creek station, the southern terminus of the Green Line in Al Jaddaf. Seven elevated stations, including one iconic station, and five underground stations, including one interchange station.
