Sharjah suspends all New Year's festivities in support of the Palestinian people.

All New Year’s festivities have been canceled in the emirate of Sharjah in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Her Majesty, The chairperson of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Council and the wife of the Sharjah ruler, Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, stated on X that “Sharjah cancels all New Year’s celebrations out of solidarity with our people in Palestine.”

The General Headquarters of Sharjah Police has declared that all fireworks celebrations and displays on New Year’s Eve 2024 will be prohibited throughout the emirate as a genuine gesture of solidarity and humanitarian cohesion with the brothers in the Gaza Strip.

The Sharjah Police pleads to all establishments and citizens alike in the emirate to cooperate with them and follow the regulations, warning that anyone disobeying the orders would face all applicable legal repercussions. The GHQ of Sharjah Police continued, “Human solidarity is a culture and a well-established thought in the Emirate of Sharjah.”

The Sharjah administration took courageous action in response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Israeli strikes since October 7 have resulted in 20,915 fatalities and 54,918 injuries.

The government also stated that 382 Palestinians were hurt and 241 Palestinians died in the previous day.
