The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) fined IndiGo Airlines Rs. 120 million ($3.2 million) and Mumbai International Airport Ltd. (MIAL) Rs. 6 million ($1.6 million) for allowing passengers from a diverted flight to continue and enjoy refreshments on the apron and mingle with other people as they made their way to and from the nearby apron control building.
The incident occurred when aircraft 6E2195, scheduled to depart from Goa for Delhi, was forced to divert to Mumbai on Sunday due to operational problems caused by low visibility in the capital. As a result, the authorities gave the airport and airline a show-cause notice.
At the Mumbai airport, a ramp-to-ramp transfer was performed for flight 6E 2195 on January 15 from 1.51 am to 2.04 am. In the 1.51 am to 2.04 am period on January 15, 2024, at Mumbai Airport, during the boarding process of flight 6E 2195, there was no security screening of the passengers or their hand luggage. The ruling stated that InterGlobe Aviation Private Ltd. neglected to notify the occurrence until BCAS requested the incident report on January 15.
