Samsung S95H QD-OLED TV Hands-On: Brighter Display, Art Mode, and 165Hz Gaming

The Samsung S95H QD-OLED TV, showcased at CES 2026, is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and visually striking televisions the company has ever produced. In a hands-on preview, the device impressed with its blend of cutting-edge display technology, refined design, and lifestyle-focused features—though it also raises questions about how it balances performance with aesthetics. It is a unique offering in the premium TV market.

At first glance, the S95H stands out for its unique design approach. Unlike traditional OLED TVs that prioritize a minimal black panel look, Samsung has leaned into a more decorative style inspired by its Frame series. The TV features a sleek, wall-mount-centric build with a metal bezel and optional magnetic frames, allowing it to double as a piece of digital art when not in use. Its upgraded Art Mode and access to a large digital art library aim to make the TV blend seamlessly into modern interiors rather than dominate them. This design philosophy sets it apart from competitors.

However, it’s the display performance that truly defines the S95H. Powered by Samsung’s latest QD-OLED panel, the TV delivers exceptionally deep blacks, vibrant colors, and impressive brightness levels. Early demonstrations revealed sharp detail, strong contrast, and a sense of depth that makes images feel more lifelike. Even in brightly lit environments—typically a challenge for OLED screens—the S95H maintained clarity and visibility, thanks to improved glare reduction technology. The panel technology is a clear step forward.

Brightness is one of the biggest upgrades this year. Reports suggest the S95H is around 30–35% brighter than its predecessor, making highlights pop more dramatically while improving overall HDR performance. Peak brightness is said to reach up to around 2700 nits in ideal conditions, placing it among the brightest OLED TVs currently available. This level of brightness addresses a long-standing limitation of OLED technology.

Samsung has also enhanced the TV’s processing capabilities with its NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor. This allows for better upscaling of lower-resolution content, smarter scene optimization, and improved motion handling. Combined with features like Real Depth Enhancer and AI-driven color tuning, the TV aims to deliver consistently high-quality visuals regardless of the source. The AI processing is a major selling point.

Gamers are another key audience for the S95H. The TV supports advanced features such as 4K resolution at up to 165Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), and auto low latency mode (ALLM). It also offers multiple HDMI 2.1 ports, with the option to expand connectivity using Samsung’s Wireless One Connect box—potentially increasing the number of available HDMI ports significantly. Gaming performance is top-tier.

Despite all these strengths, the S95H’s hybrid identity could divide opinions. While its art-inspired design and lifestyle features add versatility, some home cinema purists may prefer a more traditional focus on picture performance without added aesthetic elements. There’s also limited information so far about its audio performance, which remains an important factor for a premium TV. Sound quality will be a key factor in final reviews.

Another point to consider is Samsung’s mixed panel strategy. While most sizes of the S95H use QD-OLED technology, certain variants may rely on WOLED panels, potentially leading to slight differences in performance depending on the model. Buyers should be aware of these distinctions when selecting a size.

Overall, the Samsung S95H appears to be a bold evolution of OLED technology—combining powerful visuals with design innovation. Early hands-on impressions suggest it could be one of the standout TVs of 2026, especially for users who want both premium picture quality and a display that complements their living space. However, a full review will be needed to determine whether it truly delivers on all fronts. The S95H is certainly one to watch.
