During a visit to the southern city of Odesa on Sunday, the UK’s new minister of defence made a commitment to send more artillery guns, ammunition, and missiles to Ukraine, reaffirming London’s continued support for Kyiv.
On his first international visit, John Healey, the newly appointed defence minister by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, was in the port city, which is frequently targeted by Russian missile and drone strikes.
Healey stated, “The UK is united for Ukraine, despite the change in government,” in a statement released by the British Ministry of Defence. According to the defense ministry, Healy promised a fresh aid package that included artillery guns, 250,000 rounds of ammunition, demining vehicles, small military boats, missiles, and other equipment.
Zelensky shared a video of Healey decorating a memorial in honour of Ukraine’s Navy Day. He claimed to have briefed Healey and Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans, who also assumed the position last week, on the battlefield’s state of affairs.
The Dutch foreign minister, Caspar Veldkamp, promised this past weekend in the Ukrainian capital that F-16 fighter planes would be delivered “without delay.
