The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) declared on Friday that Muhammad Usman, a middle-order batter for the UAE, has made the decision to retire from international cricket. The 38-year-old played for the UAE men’s team for six years, participating in 85 international matches (38 ODIs and 47 T20Is). In 2016, Usman played his first ODI in Edinburgh against Scotland. With the help of one century and four half-centuries, the left-hander amassed 1,008 runs at 31.50 during his 38-match 50-over international career.
“Working with the cricket board and the UAE cricket team has been an amazing experience. Muhammad Usman said, “I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way, especially my teammates, coaches, and other support staff.
“I consider myself fortunate and honoured to have had the chance to play 85 international matches as the UAE’s representative. I am excited for the next phase of my life because I want to stay involved in sports. It’s an exciting time for the game in the nation, and I want to wish the UAE team and the players all the best,” he continued. In the meantime, Muhammad Usman has received congratulations from the ECB on his international career and gratitude for his services to UAE cricket.
