Monuments in Sharjah become canvases during a lavish light festival.

The 13th Sharjah Light Festival (SLF) has begun, dazzling the emirate with surprise and awe under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah. The event began on Wednesday evening.

The 12-day festival, which ends on February 18, is organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and is expected to enthrall audiences with light displays that draw inspiration from Sharjah’s rich cultural heritage and the UAE’s natural surroundings.

The festival welcomes the public to witness the light performances, which run from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The displays make use of cutting-edge, energy-efficient lighting technology and innovations.

Khalid Lagoon, Al Majaz Waterfront, BEEAH Group Headquarters, Al Dhaid Fort, Sharjah Mosque, Sheikh Rashid Al Qasimi Mosque, Al Noor Mosque, and Al Rafisah Dam are some of the other critical locations and landmarks. Additionally, the SLF “Light Village”—in front of the University City Hall building in Sharjah—hosts more than 55 small and medium-sized projects and kicked off the celebrations for this year’s edition on February 1.
