The Honorable Decree No. (29) of 2024 on the “Judicial Authority for Resolving Jurisdictional Conflicts between DIFC Courts and Judicial Authorities in the Emirate of Dubai” was issued by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
The Decree’s provisions apply to all Dubai-based judicial bodies, such as the Court of Cassation, Court of Appeal, Court of First Instance, and any future courts that are formed as a component of the Dubai Judicial Authority.
Wherever it appears in any law that is applicable in the Emirate of Dubai, the Judicial Tribunal for Dubai Courts and DIFC Courts shall now be known as the “Judicial Authority for Resolving Jurisdictional Conflicts between DIFC Courts and Judicial Authorities in Dubai” by the Decree.
The Decree states that the Deputy Chief Justice of the DIFC Courts will act as the deputy chairman of the new Authority, which will be presided over by the President of the Court of Cassation at Dubai Courts.
The President of the Court of Appeal at Dubai Courts, the President of the Court of First Instance at Dubai Courts, the Secretary General of the Dubai Judicial Council, and two judges chosen by the DIFC Courts are also members of the Authority.
