Look: Halal Bihalal Feasts and Prayers at Joko Widodo Mosque are How Indonesian Expats Commemorate Eid Al Fitr

In the United Arab Emirates, Indonesian expatriates observed Eid Al Fitr praying in mosques, spending time with family, connecting over food, and participating in customs like Halal Bihalal festivities.

The Eid prayer was said at President Joko Widodo’s mosque for the first time on Wednesday. The newly constructed mosque bearing the name of the Indonesian President was formally inaugurated in December of the previous year. The mosque is situated on the street bearing the name of the president of Indonesia, in the diplomatic district of Abu Dhabi.

Imam Salman Al Farisi from the Indonesian city of Pontianak led the morning prayer. Along with Emiratis and other ethnicities, including Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis, expats from Indonesia attended.

Later, the Indonesian Embassy hosted the Halal Bihalal, a unique customary celebration of respecting and pardoning others.

The Indonesian ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis, urged the community members to continue enhancing their services to others in the nation, celebrating Victory Day, and forgiving one another.

He emphasized how crucial it is for Indonesia and the UAE to strengthen their bilateral ties and work closely together in several areas.

Roughly one thousand Indonesian expatriates attended the Halal Bihalal event. In addition, 26 Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel who had just returned from a humanitarian mission in Gaza joined the function while in transit.
