Lionel Messi Champions Sustainability at COP28, Unveils Symbolic Gesture

In a compelling message on the third day of COP28 in the UAE, renowned football legend Lionel Messi shared a powerful metaphor for the planet’s preciousness. Holding a golden ball, he expressed, “What I have in my hands, it’s something very precious. It’s pure gold.”

The official COP28 account released a video capturing Messi’s poignant moment, where the golden ball in his hands seamlessly transformed into a model of the Earth. Messi emphasized the rarity of this singular representation, stating, “There’s just one. With effort and a sense of community, we can take care of it.”

The video concluded with Messi’s call to action, urging people worldwide to unite under the banner of ‘JOIN THE PLANET’. He passionately appealed, “Let’s work together to save the planet for future generations. Join COP28 to find the solutions.”

Notably, earlier this year, reports from blockchain and cryptocurrency sources revealed Messi’s involvement in the $PLANET blockchain movement. This initiative aims to generate investments for sustainability causes and startups, aligning with Messi’s commitment to environmental preservation and collective action.
