According to local media, a Canadian white nationalist who ran over and killed four members of a Muslim family in 2021 was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, with no possibility of release for 25 years.

In November of last year, Nathaniel Veltman, 23, was found guilty of first-degree murder in connection with an incident that startled Canada. The publication London Free Press stated that he didn’t seem affected by the decision. For the first time, the court in this case declared that Veltman’s attack constituted an act of terrorism—a description of violence by white nationalists.

In June 2021, while on an evening walk in the Ontario town of London, five members of the Afzaal family, who were originally from Pakistan, were struck by Veltman’s pick-up truck. Salman Afzaal, 46, his wife Madiha Salman, 44, their daughter Yumnah, 15, and Afzaal’s mother Talat, 74, were the fatalities.
