The Kuwait Ministry of Interior (MoI) is exploring the potential reinstatement of various visit visa categories, encompassing commercial, tourist, and family visas. This initiative aligns with the new government’s objective to revitalize Kuwait’s tourism industry, which has faced stagnation in recent years.
This development follows the reopening of family and dependent visas with updated conditions by Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and Acting Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah, effective from January 28.
According to sources cited by Arab Times, the reintroduction of visit visas will be executed with careful consideration of specific guidelines and conditions. These measures will address social, security, and other aspects to prevent a surge in visa violations.
In August 2022, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior had suspended the issuance of family visit visas and tourist visas until further notice.
It’s noteworthy that expatriates constitute approximately 3.4 million of Kuwait’s total population, which stands at 4.6 million.
