Palestinian Territories, Gaza Strip: Monday marked the start of the penultimate day of the Israel-Hamas truce, and the terrorist organization said it was eager to prolong it after freeing more hostages, including a four-year-old who had been left orphaned by its strike.
Following the start of the halt on Friday, Israel released over 100 Palestinian inmates in exchange for the release of dozens of hostages.
The focus now is on whether the truce will last until its early Tuesday morning expiration.
Our objective is to extend this pause until tomorrow in order to facilitate the release of further captives and provide more humanitarian supplies to people in need in Gaza, stated US President Joe Biden on Sunday.
He stated that “as long as prisoners keep coming out,” he would prefer to see an end to the war.
I have the impression that everyone involved in the situation is trying to find a way to put an end to it so that the hostages can all be freed and Hamas can no longer rule Gaza.
According to a source who spoke to AFP, Hamas has indicated that it is willing to keep the truce in place for an additional “two to four days.”
According to a source close to the organization, “the resistance believes it is possible to ensure the release of 20 to 40 Israeli prisoners” in that amount of time.
