The largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, Israel attacks Al-Shifa Hospital, is the target of an Israeli military operation on Palestinian Hamas militants on Wednesday. The Israeli military encouraged the militants to surrender.
A spokeswoman for the Gaza health ministry stated that Israel had informed enclave officials that it would raid the Shifa hospital complex “in the coming minutes,” less than an hour earlier at around 1 a.m. local time (2300 GMT).
Israeli forces had invaded the western part of the medical complex, according to Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, director-general of the Gaza health ministry, who made the announcement to Al Jazeera television. Huge explosions have occurred, and dust has infiltrated the places where we are. Bursh stated, “We think there was an explosion within the hospital.
After five weeks of an Israeli assault on Gaza, the situation inside Al-Shifa has gotten worse, raising concerns about its fate on a worldwide scale and prompting calls for a humanitarian cease-fire.
“Based on intelligence information and an operational necessity, IDF forces are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa hospital,” the Israel Defense soldiers (IDF) stated in a statement.
