Due to a malfunctioning door lock, a male passenger on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru was confined to the aircraft’s restroom for the whole flight on Tuesday, January 16. After the aircraft touched down at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and engineers forced open the door, the passenger was eventually saved.
Using handwritten notes, the crew members guided and calmed the anxious passenger throughout the flight, urging him not to worry, the airline stated.
Tuesday morning, after the plane took off at two in the morning, a traveller seated in the fourteenth row went to the restroom and became trapped inside for more than an hour.
“On January 16, a passenger unfortunately got stuck inside the restroom on a SpiceJet flight operating from Mumbai to Bengaluru for about an hour, while the aircraft was airborne due to a malfunction in the door lock,” an airline spokeswoman confirmed the event in a statement. Our personnel supported and advised the passenger during the entire trip. The passenger was given emergency medical attention when the engineer opened the restroom door upon arrival.
