The guided-missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam of the Indian Navy, which is stationed in the Gulf of Aden, replied to the MV Merlin Luanda’s distress call on Friday night. The Indian Navy reports that there are 01 Bangladeshi and 22 Indian crew members on board the MV.
According to the Indian Navy, in response to the MV Merlin Luanda’s request, INS Visakhapatnam has sent out the ship’s NBCD team and firefighting supplies to support the crew in stepping up firefighting efforts on the MV Merlin Luanda.
According to a statement issued by an Indian Navy spokeswoman on X, the Indian Navy is still resolute and dedicated to protecting MVs and guaranteeing the safety of life at sea.
“Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer, INS Visakhapatnam, deployed in the Gulf of Aden, responded to a distress call from MV Marlin Luanda on the night of January 26, 24,” an Indian Navy official wrote in a post on X. The NBCD team is supplementing the firefighting efforts on the stricken merchant vessel with firefighting equipment that was provided by INS Visakhapatnam to aid the crew members. On board the MV are 01 Bangladeshi and 22 Indian crew members. The Indian Navy is unwavering in its commitment to protecting MVs and guaranteeing maritime safety.”
