In May, Etihad Airways Transports 1.5 Million People

The preliminary traffic figures for May 2024 have been released by Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. With 1.5 million passengers carried, the airline’s monthly average passenger load factor was 84%.

Achieved a 38 percent year-to-date increase in passengers, underscoring our strong positive growth trajectory,” stated Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways. “Our Year-to-date (YTD) passenger count has reached 7.2 million, meaning we’ve already welcomed two million more passengers this year than the same period of 2023.” Despite a significant increase in capacity compared to the same period in 2023, this helped to maintain a healthy YTD load factor of 85%.

In May 2024, our rolling 12-month passenger total will have exceeded 16 million. He went on, “Our operating fleet size has increased to 90 aircraft year over year, which has fueled our growth.”

After several months of intense work by teams from all over the airline, we finally put the first of the six A321neos scheduled to arrive in 2024 into service in May. These aircraft further demonstrate our commitment to modern, more efficient aircraft, which provide a 20 percent fuel burn and CO2 emissions advantage in addition to expanding our network and frequencies.
