In Greece, a Bomb Goes off Outside the Ministry

Early on Saturday, an explosive device went off in front of Greece’s labor ministry in central Athens; however, no one was hurt, according to Greek police.

An unidentified caller told a Greek newspaper that a bomb had been set at the ministry. The police were notified, and the area was cordoned off before the explosion, which resulted in damage to the building and shattered windows, according to the police.

According to the caller, the attack was carried out by a hitherto unidentified guerrilla group, a police official stated under condition of anonymity.

The police have started an investigation into the incident.

Political violence has a history in Greece. Attacks with small bombs and arson are common, and the majority of them don’t inflict any harm.

Still, the administration expressed concern over the situation.

In an interview with Open TV broadcaster on Saturday, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis stated, “The attack is very serious and has to do with a serious crime.”
