Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the family home in the Al Tawaiyen neighborhood of the Emirate of Fujairah, killing two Emirati children, ages eight and seven.
Fujairah Police Commander-in-Chief Major General Mohammed Ahmed Bin Ghanem Al Kaabi said that after receiving the report, specialized police and Civil Defence Department teams raced to the scene at two in the morning. There, they put out the fire and saved a third child, five years old, who was critically hurt. Al Tawaiyen Center patrols and civil defense units responded swiftly to contain the fire, secure the residence, tend to the injured, and take them to Dibba Al Fujairah Hospital.
Major General Al Kaabi confirmed that the police initiated their ongoing investigations to determine the cause of the fire right away. He sent his sincere condolences for the two children’s deaths and wished a quick recovery for the family members who were hurt.
The director of the Fujairah Civil Defence Department, Brigadier Ali Obaid Al Tunaiji, has once again urged the public to follow the guidelines and regulations for safety, civil protection, and prevention.
