Free Medical Examinations and Karaoke in Dubai in Honor of Philippine Independence Day

This weekend at Dubai World Trade Center, Filipino expatriates will celebrate the 126th Philippine Independence Day with back-to-back events that showcase their cultural heritage and patriotic fervor.

On Saturday, June 8, at Zabeel Hall 3, DWTC, the Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) will host a grand event with the theme “Filipino Pride: Embracing Diversity, Celebrating Unity, and Love of Country.” The next day, Sunday, there will be another community celebration at DWTC called Kalayaan (Freedom) 2024. The public is welcome to attend both events for free.

According to the organizers, “Filipinos will tell the continuing history of the overseas Filipinos who are playing an integral role in building the UAE,” in addition to showcasing their traditions through a variety of cultural presentations.

The festivities will take place prior to June 12, which is Philippine Independence Day. On this day in 1898, the nation proclaimed its independence from 333 years of Spanish colonial rule, becoming the first republic in Asia.

The entire day’s program, according to FilSoc President Ericson Reyes, will feature a variety of cultural performances, such as a Kalayaan choir competition, a barong at the Filipiniana Fashion Show, and a fashion show called “WeBelong Catwalk” that features models who are Filipino People of Determination.
