In a tragic turn of events, Matan Meir, a crew member from the renowned Israeli television series Fauda, has been reported killed in action in Gaza. Matan Meir, also a reservist in Israel’s 551st Brigade’s 697th Battalion, was listed among the soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, according to the IDF.
The official social media account of ‘Fauda’ confirmed the heartbreaking news, expressing devastation over the loss. The statement reads, “We are devastated to share that one of our Fauda family members, Matan Meir, was killed in action in Gaza. Matan was an integral crew member. The cast and crew are heartbroken by this tragic loss. We extend our condolences to Matan’s family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.”
Matan Meir, hailing from Odem, fought in the 697th Battalion of the IDF’s 551st Brigade. In addition to his work on ‘Fauda,’ Meir was involved in the production of other shows, including the series, ‘The Cops.’
Avi Assacharoff, the creator of Fauda, also shared his condolences on social media, revealing that Meir had fallen in battle in northern Gaza. The incident occurred amidst the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, with Israel launching a counter-offensive against Hamas after the latter’s offensive on October 7. The situation remains tense as Israel vows to dismantle the terrorist group.
