Remarkable voter turnout on day one of Sharjah Council polls

Sharjah 24

Tuesday saw a boisterous start to Exceptional turnout on the first day voting for the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) elections, both in person at nine polling places located throughout the emirate and online at the designated website www.eccs.shj.ae.

Voters responded in a very interesting way on the first day of the survey. Following the global best practices of transparency and correctness, it was carried out seamlessly with top-notch facilities put in place as instructed by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council.

From a list of 193 candidates from various cities and regions of the Emirate, 51,637 male and female voters representing the nine electoral districts in the Emirate of Sharjah started voting early on Tuesday to select 25 candidates, or half of the seats in the Sharjah Consultative Council.

The hybrid voting options, which combine online and in-person voting, have greatly simplified Sharjah voters’ tasks and accelerated their reaction to the call to duty.

By using their digital identity, “UAE PASS,” they can exercise their right to vote in a matter of minutes. The system enables users to select their preferred candidate from a list of names based on the electoral district to which they belong once their identity has been validated.
