An enormous number of pre-registered guests Entry costs, many of whom are from outside, are visiting the historic, hand-carved traditional stone temple known as the Abu Dhabi BAPS Hindu Mandir, which represents the peaceful coexistence of many cultures.

The global Hindu volunteer-run organization Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) Sanstha promotes social service, spirituality, and cultural values. In addition to their many charitable, cultural, spiritual, and volunteer endeavors, the Sanstha has been constructing stunning temples throughout the world, including the well-known one in the capital.

Like a church and a mosque, a mandir or Hindu temple is a place of worship. Hindus congregate to the temple to make prayers, carry out rites, and look for spiritual direction. Temples serve as the center of religious and cultural events.

In Abu Dhabi, there is only one Hindu temple. It is also the first authentic Hindu stone temple in the Middle East. The ancient Hindu “Shilpa shastras,” or Sanskrit architectural and sculpting manuals, were followed in the construction of the hand-carved temple made of thousands of pink sandstone and white marble. The exquisite carvings, which include 250 priceless stories, depict the rich history and culture of many civilizations.
