Business events are a major driver of Dubai’s knowledge economy and tourism growth. In the first half of 2024, the city received an astounding 175 bids to host events through 2024 and beyond. These bid wins, representing a 24% increase over the same period last year, are anticipated to attract over 92,000 delegates and improve the pipeline of potential attendees for business events in the upcoming years.
With an event win pipeline that extends until 2028, the city is well-positioned to host a number of major international conferences, congresses, and incentive meetings in the years to come, thanks to the successful bids. This accomplishment, which spans many industries and professions, highlights the significance of business events to the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double Dubai’s economy in the ten years leading up to 2033 and solidify its place as one of the top three cities in the world for travel, residence, and employment.
Al Safeer Congress Ambassadors and other industry professionals collaborated with Dubai Business Events (DBE), the city’s official convention bureau and a division of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, to bid on and secure major business events. In addition to the successful bidding process, Dubai’s reputation as a premier hub for business events has gained more international recognition in recent months. Dubai was named the Middle East’s top city for hosting association meetings in 2023 by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), and it was also named the region’s top meeting destination by Cvent.
