Dubai Rains: No Serious Damage to Global Village, According to Top Executive.

Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, says the unprecedented rains in the UAE last month did not cause major damage to entertainment facilities.

We were fortunate that the rain did not cause major park problems. Some water accumulated and leaking, but we were able to get them fixed quickly, and the team did an excellent job. We reopened the parks very quickly. Dubai’s response was amazing, given the amount of rain received in just one day. “I’ve lived in many countries, but the reaction and how the government handled it was incredible,” he said in an interview with News-Times on Tuesday.

Dubai Holding Entertainment owns and operates 20 parks and attractions across the UAE. In addition to Global Village, major subsidiaries include Dubai Parks and Resorts, Coca-Cola Arena, Green Planet, Roxy Cinemas, Wild Wadi Park, Inside Burj Al Arab Tour, and a few radio stations. According to Eiroa, Dubai’s multicultural shopping and entertainment destination, Global Village, is expected to surpass its previous year’s record visitor numbers this year.

Global Village has been doing exceptionally well. We extended it for a few days because we had to close due to heavy rains, to compensate our customers and meet high visitor demand. It has been performing exceptionally well in recent seasons, and this year’s season will outperform last year’s record season,” Eiroa told the Khaleej Times in an interview on Tuesday.
