Dubai: During Ramadan, 47 Street Vendors were Arrested

Since the start of Ramadan, Dubai Police have taken 47 unlawful street sellers into custody who disregarded laws pertaining to public health and safety.

Authorities reported on Friday that other cars that were being used to sell fruits and vegetables illegally had also been seized.

According to Lt-Col Talib Mohammad Al Ameri, head of the Infiltrators Control Section in the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, “the risks of purchasing food products from street vendors or unlicensed vehicles parked on public roads are significant, as these products may be of unknown origin, expired, and may not have undergone proper quality control checks to ensure their safety and compliance with standards.”

According to him, the arrests were a component of the Dubai Police’s mission “to ensure the highest levels of security and safety for community members and eliminate illegal activities.”

Lt-Col Al Ameri continued, “The Dubai Police will keep conducting surprise inspections.” Also, he exhorted the public to use the ‘Police Eye’ feature on the Dubai Police smart app or to report violations by phoning 901.
