In anticipation of the July 6–17 summer vacation travel rush, Dubai International (DXB) airport authorities have announced some restrictions for non-passengers. July and August are the busiest travel months for families in the United Arab Emirates because schools are closed then.
Only passengers will be allowed inside the terminals during peak hours, just as they were before the Eid Al Adha travel rush. Officials recommend saying goodbye to passengers at home before sending them off to the airport.
From July 6 to July 17, DXB will experience a “significant increase” in traffic; 3.3 million passengers are expected to arrive and depart through its terminals during that time, and 914,000 passengers are anticipated to depart from DXB.
The busiest weekend, July 12–14, is expected to see the highest traffic volume at DXB with 840,000 passengers. The single busiest day is predicted to be July 13, when 286,000 travellers are anticipated. The airport can accommodate about 274,000 passengers per day on average during peak hours.
Travellers flying with other airlines are advised to arrive at DXB “no earlier than three hours” before their scheduled departure time. Flydubai passengers are advised to arrive at least four hours before departure.
